Tesla and Amazon Block OKX Tokenization Push
Key Summary
Tesla, Amazon, and other major corporations blocked OKX and Intercontinental Exchange equity tokenization plans, while rival exchanges absorbed massive capital inflows following a Binance security interruption.
Key Bullets
- Tesla, Amazon, and other major corporations formally blocked OKX share tokenization plans.
- Seventy-nine percent of targeted companies registered formal opposition to the equity digitization scheme.
- Rival platforms Bybit, Bitget, and OKX captured massive inflows during the Binance withdrawal suspension.
Corporate Rejections Halt Tokenization Strategy
Tesla and Amazon led a fresh wave of corporate rejections blocking share tokenization plans on the OKX platform Tuesday. Filings reviewed by market participants reveal that six new corporations formally rejected proposals tied to the joint venture with Intercontinental Exchange. These refusals bring the total number of dissenting firms to 56. The digital asset exchange intended to digitize equity shares for 62 targeted corporations. Corporate legal teams rejected the plan outright.
Five out of the Magnificent Seven technology giants have now officially barred their equities from the exchange. Microsoft, Alphabet, and Nvidia joined Tesla and Amazon in filing formal objections against the proposed token listings. Only 13 companies out of the original selection failed to submit a formal objection before the deadline. Silence from those remaining issuers does not indicate active participation or endorsement. Corporate resistance halted the ambitious project.
Heavy Opposition Cripples Exchange Initiative
Public notices filed through early November confirm that 79% of the initially targeted companies pushed back against the platform. JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and Walmart also registered formal opposition to the share digitization scheme. OKX and Intercontinental Exchange announced the joint venture back in early October to bridge traditional equities with blockchain infrastructure. Corporate issuers refused to grant permission for their shares to trade on the alternative venue. Liquidity plans stalled immediately.
The exchange operator has not published a definite launch date or disclosed the final basket of assets for trading. Intercontinental Exchange representatives declined to specify how the platform will operate without issuer consent. Order books lack the foundational assets needed to attract institutional capital inflows. Traders took immediate notice of the governance gridlock. The expansion attempt hit a brick wall.
Rival Exchanges Capture Massive Inflows
Bybit and Bitget recorded sharp surges in deposit activity as Binance suspended platform withdrawals for nearly three days following an exploit. Blockchain analytics firm Bitquery confirmed that deposit addresses on competing networks more than doubled during the interruption. Bybit experienced a 142% increase in Ethereum depositing addresses to reach 31,539 active accounts between Oct. 29 and Nov. 1. The exchange pulled in $239M in Ethereum stablecoin deposits while TRON depositing addresses climbed 71% to 68,192.
Bitget mirrored that competitive momentum on the TRON network with a 130% jump in depositing addresses to 10,274. USDT inflows on Bitget rose to $87M from $66M during the comparable seven-day window. OKX absorbed an even larger share of migrating funds by recording $432M in Ethereum stablecoin deposits. That figure represented nearly triple the amount collected during the previous week as traders scrambled for alternative execution venues.
