Solana Block Assembly Marketplace Speeds Up, Boosts Rewards by 72% After 50ms Delay Reduction

Solana Block Assembly Marketplace Speeds Up, Boosts Rewards by 72% After 50ms Delay Reduction

Key Summary

Jito has upgraded its Block Assembly Marketplace (BAM) on Solana, cutting bundle submission delays by approximately 50 milliseconds and increasing average rewards by 72% for successful bundles submitted to the network. The upgrade was made to keep pace with Solana's faster rhythm after the network reduced its target slot times to 200 milliseconds at Epoch 1053.

What Changed Under the Hood

A bundle is a package of transactions submitted together for inclusion in a block, typically with a tip attached for the validator who includes it. BAM is the marketplace where those bundles compete for space. The upgrade did not happen in isolation. Solana reduced its target slot times to 200 milliseconds at Epoch 1053 on October 9, 2026, which compressed the window every participant has to work with. BAM adjusted accordingly, with its auction intervals tightened from 25 milliseconds to 20 milliseconds to keep pace with the network's faster rhythm.

Early Results

Early results tied to the upgrade, announced October 13, 2026, point to a 72% rise in average rewards for each successful bundle submitted to the network.

How BAM Got Here

BAM launched on mainnet on September 25, 2025, as a modular and verifiable block-building framework. It relies on Trusted Execution Environments, or TEEs, which are isolated hardware zones designed to run code privately and verifiably.

Jito's Recent Improvements

Jito has also been patching performance issues over recent weeks. Fixes addressed kernel delays that ranged from 90 to 330 milliseconds, a significant drag when the entire slot is now 200 milliseconds long. Those improvements have produced a 15.5% increase in BAM tips per block.

The Alpenglow Pause

Solana's Alpenglow consensus upgrade is expected in mid-to-late October 2026, and BAM nodes will enter maintenance mode ahead of it. During that period, bundle processing will continue, but validators will temporarily revert to the more traditional Jito-Agave Block Engine. Features powered by BAM, including Multi-Packet Processing and Dynamic Block Incentives, will be paused while the transition plays out.

What This Means for Solana Stakeholders

For validators, higher average rewards per successful bundle and a 15.5% lift in tips per block mean more revenue flowing through BAM-connected infrastructure. With roughly 37% of stake running through BAM, plus FireBAM's additional share, a single block-building framework now carries considerable influence over how Solana transactions get ordered. The TEE-based design is meant to make that ordering private and verifiable.

Things to Monitor

Things to monitor once the dust settles: how quickly BAM nodes come back online, whether the 72% reward improvement holds under the new consensus rules, and whether validator and stake counts keep climbing past the Epoch 1050 figures.
