Bitcoin Rallies 1% as Brent Drops

Key Summary

Bitcoin climbed 1% to $78,724 early Monday as Brent crude fell 3% to $110 a barrel, though OPEC+ production targets threaten renewed inflation pressures.

Key Bullets

  • Bitcoin climbed roughly 1% to reach $78,724 early Monday after a 3% drop in Brent crude relieved immediate macroeconomic pressures across major spot exchanges.
  • OPEC+ held production targets steady through December despite ongoing Middle East supply disruptions that could drive global oil inventories down by 700,000 barrels daily.
  • Goldman Sachs raised its December Brent forecast to $105 while Saxo Bank attributed the crude retreat to diplomatic negotiations involving Iranian officials.
  • The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported annual inflation reached 3.7% with core inflation printing at 2.6% ahead of the upcoming November 10 data release.

Bitcoin Recovers as Crude Slips

Bitcoin climbed roughly 1% to reach $78,724 early Monday on CryptoSlate order books, recovering from recent market turmoil as falling oil prices and a weaker dollar provided relief. Brent crude declined about 3% to $110 a barrel after trading above $114 on Friday. The dollar index slipped 0.5% to 101.45. These moves offered Bitcoin a temporary reprieve from expensive energy and restrictive financial conditions.

Ole Hansen, head of commodity strategy at Saxo Bank, attributed the crude decline to reports that President Donald Trump favored allowing diplomacy with Iran more time. Diplomatic negotiations involving Qatari and Iranian officials continued across the region. Attacks on vessels near the Strait of Hormuz kept supply risks elevated. Traders watched order book depth closely.

OPEC Plus Holds Production Targets

The Nov. 1 OPEC+ decision threatens to prolong energy uncertainty for risk assets. Seven producers, including Saudi Arabia and Russia, maintained September production targets through December. The cartel declined to announce additional increases despite months of disruptions to Middle Eastern exports. Goldman Sachs raised its December Brent forecast to $105 from $90 to account for geopolitical risks.

The Energy Information Administration expects global oil inventories to decline by 700,000 barrels daily in the fourth quarter. Improving export routes could gradually restore supply. Bitcoin remains exposed to renewed inflation pressure if oil shipments stay constrained. Markets reacted instantly to the production freeze.

Federal Reserve Policy Tests Bull Market

The Federal Reserve raised interest rates in September and subsequently held them at a range of 3.75% to 4% on Oct. 28. Two policymakers voted for another increase during that meeting. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that gasoline prices surged 9.1% in September. That single category accounted for more than half of the month's 0.6% increase in consumer prices.

Annual inflation reached 3.7%, while core inflation stood at 2.6%. An IMF study found that US monetary tightening depresses crypto prices through reduced investor risk-taking. That relationship strengthened alongside institutional participation across derivatives venues. Bitcoin's next macroeconomic test arrives Nov. 10 with October US inflation data.
